Volume Control missing on re-boot***Windows XP
I know about going into the control panel and getting the volume control to
be shown on the task bar, however, whenever I re-boot the computer, I have
to do it all over again. The setting does not "stick". I am using Audigy 2
sound card with the latest drivers on a Windows XP Pro machine with plenty
of RAM and disk space.
Is there a registry hack to make the control appear automatically at boot
up?

Volume Control disappears: Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer
yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the
file and selecting Edit.

I applied the REG file and notice at boot that the icon appears briefly in
the task bar area, but is quickly deleted during the rest of the boot
process. Then I have to go back to the control panel to turn it on again.
Something in Windows is preventing the task to "stick".

Do you by cahnce have the volume control set to Hide when Inactive?
If so then it would briefly show as the OS loads and then dissappear
as it is hidden because it is inactive.
Right click your taskbar and select properties
In the Notification area click the customize button and see what it
shows for the volume control.
If it is set to always hide or Hide when inactive then change it to
always show.
