It prints backwards!!! hp psc 2175 in Lan with new computer--argh!

I guess I'm the dumbest kid on the block. I bought a new desktop and thought
that using Laplink's PCMover to move all my files, settings and applications
to the new machine would be just great. All of you smart people are laughing
because I sure have a mess on my hands now with applications that don't work
on the new machine.

But this is the best--hp psc 2175 is a shared printer in my little LAN--the
software for the printer is still on the laptop(old computer). I set up my
network with the new machine and tried a test print with Notepad file--it
prints backwards! I printed a webpage on the new machine and it prints okay.
Why in the world would a Notepad file print backwards??

This is an sp2 Windows Home XP environment on both machines. Can anybody
tell what is going on here?

Do you by any chance have a box marked "Mirror Image" or similar checked?
I don't have your printer so it's only a suggestion.

No--I don't even know where such a box would be. HP screens don't show any
kind of mirror image switch. The crazy thing is that it prints just fine on
the old laptop, where the software for the printer resides. It will also
print web pages on the new machine, through the LAN, using the printer as a
network shared device.

I may have screwed this up in another way. I tried to move applications
with PCMover at first and that was a big mistake. So I reversed all that and
did Sys Restore to earlies possible date. It is very likely there are some
corrupted registry values or print drivers in the new machine that didn't get
plucked out in the reversal process. I will go dig for them.

Eventually, I will move the printer drivers to the new pc and that will
probably fix the whole thing--I hope.

I recently serviced a similar problem with a certain Brother laser for a
client where only a few programs printed mirrored output on one computer.
It was baffling at first, but Brother had a patch buried in their website
(why they don't fix the driver instead is anyone's guess). To get to the
point, have you researched the problem at hp.com? Look particularly at
troubleshooting advice for that printer. You might also uninstall the
printer and load the latest driver
