My XPpro machine takes 8 minutes to transfer a 8mb test file from a share on
the server.
My machine 2.2gP4 with 512 mb ram is the only one that does this, I must
have something wrong.
A network trace shows lots of SMB errors and TCP re-transmits, I have
changed my NIC (now an intel gigabit card), re-applied SP2 ,used windows
update and checked for adware/spyware/virus multiple times. This must be
some setting or file that is only in my system. I have put another machine
on my network wire and it transfers fine.
I also notice that when I open a share on the network drive, the window
will show all the folders and then refresh it which also can take a few more
seconds than is ever should.

any ideas out there? I really don't want to rebuild this machine, there is a
lot on it. Besides I want to know what si going on.

Have you checked your nic settings to see if it is running at 100/full or
AutoDetect?

100 full, other settings didn't change it on any positive way.
