Max users to share a folder
If I share a folder on a 10/100 M Ethernet LAN, what is the max. number of
users to read the same file under the folder at the same time.
Thanks,

In XP Pro maximum simultaneous connections is 10. In XP Home maximum
simultaneous connections is 5. 'Simultaneous' means connections to the
machine at the same time - ie. XP doesn't care whether the connections are
to the same folder.

Depends on the operating system hosting the file. XP Home up to 5. XP
Pro up to 10. YMMV due to other connections made to the PC in question.

Varies with OS...
Win95xx, Win98xx, NT Workstation, Win2000 Pro, XP Pro: 10 *
WinME, XP Home: 5 *
* Subtract 1 for bugs - it seems as if under some circumstances, the
OS counts the local computer itself as a "visitor". Maybe a 127.0.0.1
thing? That's what I've observed in the field with XP and Win2000.

Add to that this: one computer may open more than one connection at a
time to another computer. This isn't uncommon.
Thanks to all responded and gave me useful information.
