Database engine stopped

I am new here - never had to access any MS newsgroup before - and need to
solve a problem. I do not know if I have a virus or what else could have
stopped my database engine, but that is what my trouble shooting results
say. I am a software application specialist on IBM mid-range systems, have
had a course on MS .NET, but have little experience in the PC world. Could
someone help?

Which database? XP does not normally have a database.

I do not know what database. It seems to be a program/engine that serves
"any" database. To attempt a more specific answer, I have had problems with
MS Outlook recently that are yet to be resolved.

If you do not know which database you are using then you should really be
listing out your problems! How can you state that you are a software
application specialist when you do not know which database you are using!

It probably has to do with ODBC(open database connectivity). I would look
through the sevices to see if it needs to be started.

Yves, Did you even read what was posted?? He did say that he was
programming on IBM MID-RANGE equipment. He uses a PC to access the IBM.
