Non voluntary Windows XP Shut-down

Several times I have had Windows XP shutdown and restart with any reason (eg
no restart software loaded, or keyboard shortcut etc). It would just close
down and restart much to my horror! No idea about how to correct or even
start how to solve. Any ideas or solutions?

First thing to do is turn off automatic restart on error. Right click
My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Startup and Recovery Settings.
Untic automatically restart. Ok out. Next time the system restarts it
might go to a blue screen with an error message. Post back with the
text of that message verbatim.

when a system failure is encountered the system automatically
restarts.Have you checked power management?
Look at the Event Viewer if you get any clue.
Do you get any error?
To prevent the system from automatically restarting:

Right click [My Computer] click [Properties] and select [Advanced] tab.
Click the [Settings] button in the [Startup and Recovery] section.
Remove the checkmark from [Automatically Restart] in [System Failure]
section.

Pay particular attention to these messages as they may provide valuable
clues to shutdown issues.
