Runtine error 282: "Object does not support this property or method"

I have started getting runtime error 282 "Object does not support this
property or method" after opening some web pages and help files. It is not
an IE 6 Error because it is also generated by Firefox 1.01. Debug is offered
and after I click NO the page continues.

Any one know how to fix it?

Maybe a problem with the webpage itself. if these helps files are for a
specific program try reinstalling it.

Also apply this to see if it helps:

Thanks for your help.

I tried installing the version 5.6 files to highlighted but the problem
persists.

Following your second suggestion it may be caused by a Panda anti-spyware
tool I recently installed, TruPrevent which claims to monitor malware as it
tries to run rather than detect it afterwards.

I have asked the Panda help site but no reply in the last forty-eight hours.

Looking at instances with Google it seems a widely spread error so difficult
to pin down.

Have you tried temporarily disabling TruPrevent to see the error again ?

Runtime error need not be a issue with your computer. Try the pages on a
different computer to see if it works. If you do not have access to one,
share the pages here let us test.

If it does not happen in other computers, try this:

Access Internet Options, Click Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults button,
uncheck Enable third-party browser extension, click Ok. Close any IE window
and open again.

To reinstall IE:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm#Reinstall

check the section "Reinstall or Repair IE / OE in Windows XP"

I seem to have fixed it by removing all panda applications and then running
SFC /scannow
