This problem occurred twice lately while working on different tracks.


The symptoms:

The computer monitor turns black, (the power-on led stays green)

The non-usb keyboard does not function when ctrl-alt-del is pressed, and the
num lock light stays on and will not turn off.



What is causing this problem? Basically the monitor shuts off but the
computer stays on with no keyboard & mouse functioning.

The operating system is XP Pro w/sp2; 1 gig of memory and 1800 AMD CPU.

What do you mean by "tracks"?

Does the same happen if you disconnect any external devices like your
printers or scanners or whatever?
