CDR format

When trying to copy a file to a cd i get the msg:
'windows does not support this CDR format. try another disc.
what does this mean?

I've formatted the disc on this machine.

In which format? CDs and DVDs use a different format from disks.

What program did you use to format?

What program are you trying to burn with?

You do not normally format CD-Rs but you can format CD-RWs (using InCD or
Drag to CD)

Perhaps the OP was trying to use the command to format a disk. If so, he
did not realise that this command is not appropriate for a CD.
