Can someone tell me what is the difference between a Live CD and a bootable
CD for Windows XP

No idea what a "live" CD is implying, where are you getting that term? Most
WinXP CD's are bootable, meaning you can insert the disk and start the
machine and it will load into memory giving you the option to repair
(Recovery Console) or install/repair install the system. Bootable simply
implies that there is code on the disk that allows the system to start from
it.

A "Live CD" means a bootable CD that self-contains a fully
functioning operating system - that does not require installation
to a traditional disk drive.

Hello, An example of a live cd "Knoppix" a Linux system with this you can
run the computer from the CD Drive. A good item if you can't gain access to
the installed OS.
Take Care.

*IN* other words, not "another words", and no, not limited to Linux,
BartPE is another example and is definitely not Linux.
