How to backup files with WXP?

I have recently upgraded from W98SE to WXP. I used to backup my files every
day using MSBACKUP. But there seems not to be any equivalent program with
WXP.

Have I overlooked something or do I need to go and find a third party
program for backing up my files?

With thanks,

Gerry

You must have XP Home, it does come with a backup program but is not
installed by default. Look here for instructions:

XP Home?

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on
XP Home. If you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the
CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by
doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at

http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

XP does have a backup program, ntbackup. For Pro it's installed by
default. Go to Start | All programs | Accessories | System Tools |
Backup. In XP Home it's not installed by default. It's on the
installation CD in the \MSFT\ValueADD\Ntbackup folder as ntbackup.msi.

Some vendor OEMs won't include ntbackup. If that's the case it can be
downloaded from here:

Gerry, you may also want to check your clock settings. You are a day ahead
of everyone else.

I think that you will needd to buy a program: NERO 6 is good, although for $80
it ought to be. It does a fine backup, will handle DVD's, and does many other
functions. It will do about anything with CDs or DVDs, and even I can operate
it. It will format disks also... Dick M.

If you mean the ASR function, no that is not available in ntbackup for
XP home. Use Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, or Terabyte Unlimited's
Image for Windows.
