Identify Motherboard

Anyone know of a good I utility I can use to identify the manufacturer and
product (number/version) of my motherboard. I cleaned my computer and
reinstalled XP but XP could not identify or install the onbord Video driver
and Sound card. I have checked all the chips on the board and after
searching several sites I read that I could identify the mother through a
tag on the last expansion slot. I checked and found the tag but all it has
is "Warranty Void if removed... and below it the number D30406767. Does this
mean anything?

Thanks in advance

Try System Information for starters:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information

Look under "System Manufacturer" and "System Model"

One way is to look in the bios, then there should be a number on the
main screen. Go to the bios web site, there should be a link to check
the number, or e-mail it to customer support. They can tell you who
made the motherboard.

This product worked great... I got the information I needed to find the
right driver.

http://www.wimsbios.com has a utility to identify the chipset, that usually
gets you started in the right direction.
That site also has an extensive BIOS list that may help you identify the
board through the BIOS numbers that show during POST.

Belarc Advisor does a pretty good job of identifying hardware manufacturers
and serial numbers.
Try www.belarc.com for free copy

Also take a look at Everest (free), which is the successor to AIDA32, a
wonderful utility.

If neither the computer's manual or the computer manufacturer's web
site provide the information, perhaps one of these will help:

Yes, as a matter of fact, it does. Thanks for the reminder. For that
matter, so does DxDiag.exe.
