Hi,

This is the initial error that I received: "Explorer has caused an
error in MSI.DLL. Explorer will now close." As a result, I had a real
hard time booting up. So I ran my NortonWorks repair and it helped me
repair some of the other difficulties but the MSI.DLL error remained.
Now, the MSI.DLL error comes up when I boot up and try to run
NortonWorks and Windows. The mouse cursor just stalls and doesn't
allow me to click on to anything.

I have WindowsME. I started my computer today with the Windows
recovery disk and have not gotten past the stalled booting up problem.

Help!

Thank you.

You need to post to a WindowsME newsgroup. This is the XP group. Here
is a list of all MS newsgroups: http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

My apologies. I'm a newbie at this.

Much obliged.

Insert Windows Me Startup disk into the drive and restart the computer.
Click Minimum Boot at the startup menu.
At the DOS prompt, type the following, and then press Enter after each line.

cd \windows\system
ren msi.dll msi.old
ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old
ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old
exit

Remove the Startup disk and restart the computer.
On the desktop, double-click InstMsia.exe.
Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Restart the computer.
