This is a news group for Windows XP. I am assuming that your problem is with the program
Microsoft Word, which is not part of the Windows XP operating system. That said: With
Word closed, search for the file:

normal.dot

Normal.dot holds the settings for MS Word, and can become corrupt. Delete that file.
Word will recreate the file the next time the program is opened. After deleting that
file, reboot your system, open Word, and see if the problem is fixed. If the problem is
not fixed, try posting to the news groups:

microsoft.public.office.setup
microsoft.public.office.misc

Since what you describe is not part of Windows operating system, but a
function of the application you are using, try clicking on Help on the
menu at the top.
