My clock in win xp keeps losing time, what could be the problem?

Its not the battery.

Click on the clock and on the menu that comes up click on the last tab
'internet time' make sure automatically synchronize option is select. also
put the server to time.windows.com and click check now.

also click on time zone and make sure, daylight time saving is checked

If it's losing time while powered off, the problem *is* very
likely the battery. But if it's while running, it can *not* be
the battery, because the battery isn't used while the computer is
running.

If the clock loses time while running, try this:

Open a command prompt window (Start | Run | cmd) and enter the
following commands:

net stop w32time

w32tm /unregister

w32tm /register

net start w32time

Note that most computers don't use the battery even when they're off,
ATX provides a standby power source which (among other things) will
typically be used to power the clock when the system isn't running.

However, if you power your system off using a power bar, stop doing that
and instead use the internal ATX power function and it may help.
