XPe Evaluation SP2 Installation Issues
Hi,
I am seeking some help installing the eval .cab files for XPe.
I have a number of disk images (Disk1, Disk2) and a number of Database .cab
files, plus a msde.cab and tools.cab.
How do I install these? Do I have to copy them to CD before they will run?
Any help appreciated.

Hi LCB. I assume you're referring to downloading the Eval installers from
the Embedded website? If so, your Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3 images should
contain a "setup.exe" file that will provide you with an interface to
install everything. Look for that. You should not need to burn them onto
CD first.

Hi - seems you're not the only one. Check out Windows XP Embedded

Aha. That gives me some more information on what's likely to be going on
for LCB. Thanks for pointing me to that - I posted a response in the forum
on that topic.

After a bit more information (thanks cdutoit), it looks like you might be
running into a warning message that reads "Warning: Volume [Disk 1: Windows
Embedded SP1 Setup] not found for removable media" or similar. When you run
the Setup.exe file, you may encounter that message.
If this happens, you can safely ignore the message so long as it lets you
continue to the Setup UI. The message is simply a warning that the "other"
volume of the Disk1+Disk2 set couldn't be found (if run from Disk1, it
should call out Disk2, and vice versa), and this is just a spurious
message - it should not affect Setup.
Hope this helps. =)
