Attempting SATA RAPTOR Install-WinXP Pro

I just bought a new 74 GB Western Digital Raptor drive (OEM).....and am
attempting to install it........unsucessfully thus far. This is my 3rd hard
drive since December........I've just been having bad luck with my
drives......they're always giving me startup problems.......causing me to buy
a new drive in order to save my important files. Anyways......

I have everything working to the point where my Win XP w/ Service Pack 2
INSTALL CD is starting. I push F6 to install/setup new RAID/SCSI
devices......then I push 'S'...........I did all this when I installed my
first SATA hard drive (most recent drive)....I copied and pasted the
necessary drivers for my ABIT NF7-S motherboard.....which seems to be 3112 or
something like that. After pushing 'S' last time and popping the floppy in
the A drive.......everything worked....it was magical. It's different this
time however.......with this new drive, after pushing 'S'.....popping in the
floppy and pushing ENTER, it says BUSY or something.....then it goes back to
the original screen telling me to insert a manufacturer disk or something. It
seems as though it's not reading the drivers that need to be
installed.........I'm so puzzled because it worked with no problem last
time.......I used the same exact files. Even more disturbing.......when I
take the floppy back to another computer......it says I need to format the
floppy and won't open.......(after attempting to install the drivers on my
cpu with the new drive).....so I'd format and put the files on and try a
couple more times.......still no luck. I have no clue what else to do here.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

-Mike

Sounds like either the floppy drive or the floppy itself is borked.

Are you sure the floppy cable is on the right way? If the light is on ALL
the time, then the cable is backwards, and trying to read disks with a cable
backwards usually destroys them.
