Realtex

We received new PC with WinXPse2 and when the startup screen comes on, a
small black box (similar to DOS screen) with wording similar to "loading
realtex mixersel."
We looked in MSCONFIG startup and see: "Startup item=mixersel;
Command=C:\Program Files\realtex\install shield\mixersel.exe"

Would anyone know what this program is? Can it be disabled or uninstalled?
Does it have anything to do with the Real Player?
Thanks for any information.

Volume and audio control applet.

It looks like a mixer application for the Realtex audio. Try reinstalling
the latest version of the Windows XP software for your Realtex audio card.

Thank you.
You included two URLs for antivirus programs, ad removal, etc. Does that you
think that this Realtex box that pops-up could be connected to a virus or ad
program?

Thank you for your answer.
#1- Then there is no way this (c:\program files\realtex\install
shield\mixersel.exe) should be unchecked in the MSCONFIG/startup?
#2- Also, no way to stop the little black box (similar to DOS) that pops-up
with the Install Realtex mixersel.exe at the top of it? (This box disappears
very quickly, but is annoying.)

No. That is my posting "signature". It is there so I don't have to type it over and over
again.

If this is a store bought computer you likely have the software on the CD's
that came with the computer. Check your manual! If not, go to the Realtex
web site.
