backup queery

i am in the process of buying a laptop, what i would like to do is
when i have first got xp on the hard drive i would like to do a backup
to a cd, as in norton ghost type of program, is the a non install
freeware prog out there that will do that.

only going to put the bare bones on the backup no sp1 or sp2.

Zoo, from the Command Prompt type: xcopy C:\*.* X:\ /s/e/h/c/k/r
X= Cd-rw Drive. I use Direct CD.

Nope - Norton's Ghost is the best, and that is not free.
You can backup your Registry using XP. You can backup your
system files by creating a manual Restore point.
