Hello, when I try and save a Word file to my H cd rom drive, I get "You do
not have access to this folder h:\ See your administrator for access to this
folder.
I can read from this drive, copy the word file and use burning software to
add a file to the cd. Just cannot do a save to the cd.

In order to use the cd-rw drive as a big "floppy", you must have
packet-writing software installed. Examples of packet-writing software
are InCD by Nero and DirectCD by Roxio. There are disadvantages to
using packet-writing software, however. If you use this software to
create a cd-rw, if you then want to read that cd-rw on another machine
which does not have packet-writing software installed the cd-rw will
appear blank.

Microsoft Word does not support saving to CD {any kind} from within Word
irrespective of burning software you are using.

Please note that as of version 6 of Roxio, DirectCD is now known as "Drag to
CD".

Writing from a program to a cd requires the CD to be set up for packet
writing. Packet writing sucks and lots of people have problems with it.
Why not buy a USB thumb drive? They're designed to be used directly just
like another drive. They're cheap and getting cheaper. You can get half a
gig for under $50. Do a Google for USB thumb drive.
