DirectX problem

Hi

As the subject says, I'm having a directX problem in association with a
video game I'm attempting to play. When I run dxdiag, I come up with this
error message:

Error: Problem getting DirectShow info, result code = 0x80040154 (Class not
registered)

I'm not sure what that means, but then I have another problem. I'm missing a
file called devenum.dll. I have attempted to reinstall DirectX and either
cannot or it is not installing properly, as the file is still missing. I have
attempted to reinstall SP2 because I got the idea from some messages here
that that might do something, and again, it did not install the file I am
missing.

Please help! I am so frustrated with this that I'm ready to burn my computer
or something. :)

try installing a new version over it and then run command DXDIAG to
check it.

Try doing a Search>All files and folders>More Advanced Options>Check three
boxes Search "System Folders", "Hidden Files and Folders" and "Subfolders".
In "All or part of the Name" box type: devenum.dll Click on Search and
see what
comes up. One may show up in C:\Windows\System32 Folder and
C:\Windows\System32\Dllcache Folder . If the first
one is missing make a copy of the one in the dllcache folder and paste it
into the System32 Folder. If they show up in both
folders then delete the one in the System32 folder and copy and paste the
one in the dllcache folder. If none show up then
Try going here and download the devenum.dll. There's two so download them
both. Try one and then the other.
http://dll.yaroslavl.ru/index.php3?lng=&in_char=D It sounds confusing and
it is but stick with it.
