It started with the sound. About two weeks ago, I couldn't hear anything
from my speakers. I tried everything to get them to work.
Now, the images on the monitor are distorted. The color is faded and the
image is not centered on the screen. The task bar that is normally on the
bottom of the screen is now 3/4th down with a black line and then the top of
the page starts before hitting the bottom of the screen.
I thought it might have been a virus and downloaded the free trial for
Norton Antivirus but it only found treats (which I deleted) and I also ran
the Lavasoft Ad-aware 6 (and deleted files found). I restarted the computer
but the images were still distorted.
We have a wireless network connection that failed after having to disconnect
everything for the flooring contractors to install new carpet and tile. My
brother set the settings back a couple of days and it fixed the problem.
Any advice? Thanks for your time.

Perhaps coincidence but it is possible that the renovations
might have disturbed the connections both inside and outside
of the computer. Open the computer and re-seat all peripheral
cards, ribbon cables, power cables, etc. Do the same for the
mains power to the computer, monitor, etc., and connections.
