Hi

I have the same problem and have usually used a restore point
to roll back and get the nic working again. Yesterday I had the same
problem after cleaning out old prog's in add/remove and rebooting.
The networking said the media was dissconnected and instead of
rolling back, I searched the net for more answers from another PC.
I ended up plugging the cat5 into a different port on my 10/100 switch and
immediatly it connected, synce'd time, MSN connected viola!
Try it. I also saw a program on the web called winsockXPfix that
supposedly fixes 'said' error but be suer to set a restore point b4 you test
is.
