AUTOMATIC UPDATES

I have 2 different versions of XP Pro. One where I slipstreamed SP2 into it
and then a new machine I recently bought which already has SP2 built into
it. Now in my 1st machine I have been able to turn off automatic updates
since I like to manually go on the Update site once a week unless a
colleague alerts me of some critical updates.
However in my 2nd machine I am not able to successfully turn off the
updates. Should I go through the Services to turn it off, so it does not
automatically FORCE me to dedicate time and energy on it? Or is there
another work around?
Thanks!

fixing your time might help

Yeah I know the bloody time seems to be a recurrent problem not only with
this machine but also my other machine. Although I have turned off the time
synchronization feature off.
What about the Services choice, should I use that to turn off the auto
update?
