Hi,

I have sony vaio laptop frv37, which came with win xp home, then after i
did complete re-installation to windows xp prof. now my hard drive is making
wired noise so i bought hitachi 60 gb 7200 rpm (for performance) hard
drive($189), i used norton ghost ($70) for making exactly same drive image to
new one. norton ghost gave me message successfully done, drive intengritiy is
fine, file system intengrity is fine, etc etc. when i replace drive and try
to boot it hangs after windows xp logo and before user logon screen. one more
problem i can re-install win xp and every software i have right now, but
problem is i don't want to lose my visual studio setting and my web project
setting etc etc and more importantly i don't want to spend 2 to 3 days for
installing softwares and applying every updates to each and every software
installed, there has to be way. please is there any geek who can help me to
resolve this problem.

A Geek huh.....Well,i suppose.Set the new drive as slave on IDE chain to C:
Go to run,type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,format the slave with a primary partition
(basic format),when its thru,close out,go to run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\
/c/h/e/k/r
Agree to all in the DOS window,when its thru,the transfer is complete.Also,D:
being the asigned slave letter,if given diffrent just use that letter.This
works,99.9%
of the time,just make sure you get prompted in DOS,if not,you typed wrong
(spaces
) in cmd.
