network print issue

Printer (HP inkjet 1700) stopped responding and deleted and reinstalled
the printer -- now works fine with unit to which printer is attached
(lpt1), but does not work with other computers hooked to printer via
local network. Printer is there and stated to be "ready" but no
printing occurs. No error messages as well, simply seems to be in a cue
that lasts forever. Deleting and reinstalling did not help either. All
computers are running XP-pro sp2.

Suggestions?

Sometimes it helps to delete the network printer and add it back after
removing and installing on the local computer. If that doesn't help make
sure your firewall isn't blocking the application sending the print command.
