Not an easy thing to accomplish. Have you checked with your
camcorder vendor for updates. It's always best to try and get
patches so the latest "Core" XP components can be used, instead
of using downstream versions.

At one time there were tools on the web that allowed users to
re-load earlier versions of DirectX. I believe some of the "Gaming"
sites made it available. You might Google for "Use older DirectX.

Why not look for newer software on the website of your Camera manufacturer.
Many new programs require the presence of DX 9 b or c to operate. If you
revert to an older version you are most certainly asking for more trouble.

I always was led to believe that DirectX could not be returned to an earlier
version..

Just one time on a neighbor's gaming PC. Seemed to work in that
instance, but usually I'll try and get the latest DX up and running w/
all the game patches applied. Can't remember what game wouldn't
work - seems like it was one of the older LucasArts Star Wars
games. It's interesting how these "Gamers" seem to find/locate all
the tools you wouldn't normally think are out there. Sometimes on
really "Quirky" issues I'll check some of the Gamer forums looking
for ideas. Whenever I'm tempted to try an unverified tool, I'll do a
System Image just in case.

Never tried it, but did get a couple of OK reports awhile back.

Download a older version of DirectX like 9.0 but not 9.0b or c
