My configuration has been set up, and has been working for a long time,
without requiring a login. Due to a disk crash, I recently had to recreate
my SP1 database from scratch, and as far as I know, I reapplied all my
previous QFEs as well as my own components. I have no recent QFEs, as most
of them were from a long time ago. In any case, TD was happy about it and I
was able to create a new image tree, etc.

But when I did my initial deployment, XPE now comes up with a "The system
could not log you on" message and brings up a screen where I have to click
on the Administrator account icon to log in and continue with the startup.
This is obviously unacceptable for a headless, auto-startup system.

What can be causing this? I have network support installed, but am not
connected to a network at the time FBA is running (and really don't want to
be).

By the way, my Automatic Logon component is set to the "Administrator"
account.

Hmmm... I seem to have been the victim of a "hidden upgrade". None of my
visible components at the default level showed that they needed to be
upgraded. But just for fun, I ran the "Update Components" selection from the
TD menu. Checking the log, I discovered that an update from a QFE for the
FBA component got applied. That must have been hiding at a low visibility
level. Right away this rang a bell, so I was not surprised when I generated
a new image, got it onto my target, and it ran through FBA and started up OK
with the usual automatic logon.

Always nice to solve my own problems :-).
