I am trying to fix a problem with a drive in an HP system, it will not read
any types of CD's first of all I removed all CD writing software and
replaced the drive with another one and then installed Nero, everything
worked ok for a couple of days and now it's doing the same thing as the old
drive.

Any idea's?
Thanks
Clayton

Could you let us know any error msg evident on the screen ? Does it happen
even when you access My Computer and Browse the CD manually ?

No error messages, it just doesn't want to read any TOC on disks

I see that you have replaced the drive earlier for the same issue. Did you
also replace the IDE cable ?

The best way to check if the CD-ROM is functional is to boot with it. Change
the BIOS boot order first to CD-ROM drive, insert any OS install CD and try
starting the computer. If it starts, CD-ROM is working. It should be a
software problem only.
