In XP Home, the choices available in "Send To" can be quite limiting. Is
there a way to make one of the choices more generic, so I can pick the
folder to send something to instead of cutting and pasting?

R-click the start button, Properties, Start Menu, Customize, Advanced.
In the Left pane, open "Send To". Put the "additional choices" there in
the form of shortcuts.

MS used to include a SendToX (aka Send To Any Folder) item in Power Toys.
It was dropped in the XP version. According to several sources, the old
version from Win 9X can be used in XP. See
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1781614,00.asp for more information.

Be very careful that you only install the SendToX item. Some of the older
Power Toys are definitely NOT XP compatible.

Try "save as" and follow select save in.

Right clicking on a file icon in a folder produces a menu that (in my
system) does not include "Save as". That would be what I would want.

Your Welcome. It's available at

I suggest that you also read the article I provided (which included the link
above) for instructions for installing it to XP.
