I have a Dell XPS with XP SP2, and about a month ago I tryed a spysweeper
program, well it really messed my system up. since I have SP2 and the
restore disk only has SP1a I can't "repair" the system. I have been able to
manually rebuild almost all of the problems it caused, however when I open
the
font folder from the control pannel the menue item that should be their
called
"install new font" is missing, this is XP Pro and yes I am the sys admin.
is there a hidden program or tool to install new fonts or maybe a way to fix
the
dammage. Help/Thanks -

If the "Install Fonts" option is missing, do Start>Run cmd [enter] and
then:

cd c:\Windows\fonts [enter] (assuming Windows is on C:)
attrib fonts +s +r [enter]

If this doesn't do it, replace the fontext.dll by extracting it.

Malke;
Thanks, but no luck -
when I type" attrid fonts +s +r" I get a error "File not found - Fonts"

So where do I extract, and what do I extract, and how do I extract the file(s)
then where do I put them? in the system32 folder?

Make sure the folder is read only or system.

That's because you ignored the instructions. Try following them.

David;
Thanks for your posts, however the folder is read only and system as you
suggested.
Unfortunately there still is no way to install new fonts; the menu is still
the same without the "install new font".
So what do I extract and where do I extract, and how do I extract the
file(s) then where do I put them in the system32 folder?

Type in Start Run

sfc /scannow

and it will check all your system files and repair those that need it.
