CompactFlash health test software

Dear Readers,
There is some clever program in a flash card to extend its life-time.
Does anyone know of a (free) program that can check the 'health' of a
CompactFlash card?
Tia, Jean.

Haven't heard of such a thing Jean. But there are flash devices you can
obtain that have wear leveling built into the firmware to really extend its
life.

Well I've sent a mail to SanDisk about this, and they said such a tool
exists but they don't sell it and I should search on the inteternet...
Since they *have* wear leveling it should be posible to "see" the health of
the card, like with smart on an ide disk.
Jean.

Jean,
Even if SanDisk has such a tool it is likely going to work only with Sandisk cards and bound tightly with their firmware.

Dear KM,
You are probably right; but it could be that there would be some set of
standard parameters and a set of brand specific parameters.
Jean.
