I have purchased Norton Inetrnet Security 2005 but once installed my
operating system (XP home) runs erratically or is non responsive most of the
time. It took me 45sec. to open a window(and another 45 to close it!)!! Does
anyone knows anything about this or can anyone help please. I have no
protection for my PC at the present as I had to remove Norton from my
computer in order to use it... HELP!

2005 Symantec/Norton products have some severe system
loading issues. Especially on machines with lower amounts of
physical memory.
Your issues may be resolved by numerous Live Updates &
other time intensive actions.
You'd be better served getting a 1-Year free eTrust 7 and use
Zone Alarm free. Both products are quite good and the only
loss of NIS would be Anti-Spam filtering. However, there are
free solutions for that as well.
By the way eTrust's annual subscription cost is $12.95 instead
of Norton's $29.95+.

Not surprising Nelly. I would never dream of infecting my computers with
anything made by Norton. I use McAFee on all of my machines and have had
no troubles. Take the Norton back and exhcnage it for a program that
works without bringing you computers to its knees.

If nis wont run/install properly on a XP pc then it's best to NOT use it
or try to get it to work at all. One can have all nis features for free
anyway using other programs.

If nis does work/install properly then by all means keep it going.

One can say the same with McAfee as well. The point is if you are having
niggles with either, its NOT worth the time to tweak it out as there are
so many free, non-invasive options that accomplish the same tasks.
