Dell Supoort--> Maintenance support option noted that I did not have the
speaker control icon in my system tray. Futher, it prompted me to Auto Fix
the issue. I clicked auto fix and the sound icon appeared in the system
tray, but it also reformatted the entire look of the XP Standard Task Bar.
I rebooted, but that did not reset the task bar to XP standard colors or
shapes. Yuck, it looks like window 98.
Any ideas how to reset the XP task bar colors and button shapes?

Right-click on the Desktop and select:
Properties > Appearance and from the
"Windows and Buttons" drop menu select
"Windows XP Style" and click Apply.

Apparently, you have reverted to Windows Classic Style.
Start - Control Panel - Display - Appearance tab
In the "Windows and Buttons" scroll box, make sure you have selected
"Windows XP style."
