Hi! I've had my system for over a year now, and never had this problem before.
I take a blank cd-r, put it in my cr-cw drive ("E"). Then i hilite ONE jpg
image, and try dragging it to the E drive -- it says

" E:\ not accessible. Incorrect function".

I've also tried the COPY function -- ng. it USED TO work....it would put
my files in a temp area, then ask me if i want to put 'em on cd.

The weird thing about this is that i have Real One, and CAN play cds from
this drive AND RECORD music cds! MY HARDWARE says that this device is
"functioning properly"!

Pls help! Thank you, Norm Vogel normv@luckymail.com

Check that installing Real Player did not disable the imapi burning service.
Start/run services.msc, scroll down to that service and click on it. See if
it is currently in a running state, or if it is disabled.

Hi! I did as you said, and it was STOPPED. I started it, but it didn't
do anything.

If i go into WIN EXPLORER, for example, and drag an img to the E drive, it
still says E:\ Not accessible.

I've also tried COPY and COPY TO. As i mentioned, it USED TO put the
files into a temp holding area, then id click it, and it would work.

I tried rebooting my sys.....no effect.

Is there anything else i can try?

Thank you so VERY much,
Norm

Perhaps you need to delete your temporary files. Do Start>Run cleanmgr
[enter] and see if that helps. Also see these links for more cleanup
steps:

Norm,

Can you go to Services and Scroll down to IMAPI CD Burning Services and see if it is
set to Manual or is it set to Disabled. It should be set to Manual and Started.

I did ALL the cleaning steps, above. the Imap WAS stopped, but now it's
STARTED.

I notice that i can't drag, COPY, or COPY TO my cd ANY kind of file!

But, Real One still plays from/records to this drive!

Is there anything ELSE i can try?

Thank you,
Norm

Maybe try coping directly to the temp folder. In XP:

X:\documents and settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

X=drive letter of hard disk
USERNAME=your username that you logon with

its a pain but it should work; when the file is copied to the directory
there should be a baloon tip in the taskbar that says that you have files
waiting to be burned to a cd.

Now double click it, set the startup type to automatic. Apply/ok, then
reboot.

Since this obviously isn't working any more, is there a free (or low cost)
program that i can get off the 'Net that would allow me to copy .jpg files
onto a cd?

Thank you,

Norm

YES! When i used to drag or copy imgs to the E drive, win would put them
in a "holding area", then i'd click on "save to cd", and they'd go onto the
disk.

I don't get that any more. I did troubleshooting; "drive is working
properly".

I can play cds ON it, and using Real One, i can record MUSIC cds, but cannot
move ANY sort of files onto the cd! Is this weird, or what???

Open My Computer, right click your cd drive, properties, recording tab.
"Enable CD recording..." must be checked.

When i my computer/right click on cd drive/properties, there IS NO
"recording tab"!

There are 3 tabs: general-play-hardware. NOTHING says "recording"!
TYPE: cd drive FILE SYSTEM: RAW

Used & free space: 0 bytes. Hmmm...there's a blank cd in the drive;
shouldn't the free space be SOME NUMBER of bytes, not "0" ????
