crossed icon wires??

On updating some software (Opera as it happens) it created to two
versions rather than pasting over the original. I uninstalled them
both, then installed the new version.

Now in explorer the icon for HTML doesn't have an Opera or indeed IE
icon associated, but the generic system icon. I've gone into folder
options and in there it looks fine, and HTML files are associated to an
Opera icon. BUT not in explorer.

Any ideas what might have happened here and how I can get the icons
back.

Oh, and I did try making IE the default broswer, but that didn't have
its own icon either. Odd. Some wires seem to have been crossed.

Thanks.

Delete the icon cache and see if this helps: Delete the (hidden) file
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION
DATA\ICONCACHE.DB.
Or use the System Restore to undo all and then deinstall / install the
software.
