Right Click the Start Button, & then click Open All Users.
Once opened, Double-Click the Programs folder and do
your changes in an Explorer view.

Startup times vary greatly - depending on your hardware &
applications. At a minimum you'll see an average of 40+ seconds.
You can use MSConfig.Exe to trim back Startups & Watchdogs
that account for some delay.Common things that can be disabled
are Printer watchdogs,Quick Time, Real Audio, Win-Messenger.

Be careful to not disable any of your Security software agents
that appear in the MSConfig screen. Check the "Command" path
and from the folder path you can usually discern what application
the startup belongs to.

Invoke MSConfig by clicking Start, Run (Type) MSConfig
Once running click the "Startup" (TAB).

FYI: If you Right Click on the Icons in the System Tray (by Time)
many have preferences or options to inhibit them from starting
at system boot up.
