When I try to increase my monitor settings, the Properties command block is
shaded out and inoperative. The access sequence is Control Panel | Display |
Settings | Advanced | Monitor | Properties. In the Display pane, I cannot
move the pixel setting arrow and in the Monitor pane the Properties command
is inoperative. I am using a Dell Dimension 4600 with XP Home with an older
Compaq Presario MV500 monitor. This problem is preventing me from using a CD
viewer and editor which requires an 800 x 600 screen resolution. This
combination has worked at higher resolution settings in the past with no
problem and I know not why the setting has dropped to 640 x 480 and won't
budge.

Paul, rt click MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Display Adaptors>Your Video Adaptor. If there's a yellow mark next
to it you have to reinstall the drivers. rt click on Your Video Adaptor and
select update or reinstall drivers. Just follow the instructions
They will usually be found on a Software CD that came with
the Computer.
