can anybody pl. explain what these two sentences mean?
1) A free 5.25" bay, with front access.
2) An open position on your primary or secondary hard disk
controller.

Can CD/DVD burner be insatlled on pentium 2 with windows 98?

You must have someplace in your computer case to install the CD/DVD
burner. On the front of your computer you have some places to install
hardware, the common sizes are 3.5" where your floppy disk drive is
installed (if you have one) and 5.25" where your CD ROM is installed
(if you have one.) You must have one of the larger size "bays" empty,
if so it will have a blank piece of plastic covering it that can be
removed to install the burner, if you do not you must remove your
existing CD reader to install the burner (the burner will also read
CDs, so you can remove it if you have to).

Once the burner is installed you must connect it to the controller with
the cable supplied. Your computer has one of these wide cables
connected from the motherboard to the harddrive and another connected
to the CD ROM (if you have one). Now you'll need a third connector for
the burner or, if you have to remove the CD ROM you can use its cable
to connect to the burner.

You'll also need an unused power supply connector to power the burner.

Yes, if the above conditions are met. You must also look at the
software requirements, is Windows 98 listed as one of them? If so,
you're OK.

Here's a clearer explanation with pictures:

I hope this is of some help?
