I could not find a place to post this so I hope someone can answer me. I have
windows xp. I have a cable modem. I lost my connection last night and the
tech. help for my isp said the internet stream was too much for my computer
to handle. So he was saying my cable connection was so fast it shut my
internet connection off. Is this possible?

Time to start thinking about a new ISP that knows what they are talking
about.

Gee, your plumbing failed because the lake that supplies the water has 32
million gallons in it.

We have added 26 new channels to your basic cable, better get a bigger
television set....

No. That's ridiculous.

I agree with the others, this is absolutely preposterous. If your
connection doesn't come back (all kinds of things happen, routers or
cables on your cable operator's system could have been damaged to
cause the outage and fixed by this time), then you'll need to call the
cable operator again, and persist. Idiots like this should not be
allowed to talk to customers.

It's complete nonsense.

Replies that that infuriate me. Assuming that you didn't
misunderstand what he said, you might want to consider switching
to a ISP with better tech support.

Thanks for all your answers. I had lost my cable Internet connection but my
cable TV was fine. The tech told me that because there was so much bandwidth
coming into my cable modem I lost my connection because the modem and my nic
could not handle it. I told him this sounded stupid but he would not back
down. Thanks again.

How can YOUR ISP state that your PC is too slow for the Internet? Did they
not know what type of computer you had before they connected your cable
Internet service??

Unless you are running demanding "server style" applications (file sharing
is one) then there should not be a "lock-down" placed on your Internet
access. If you were using too much "bandwidth" from the ISP, your ISP may
have reserver they rights in blocking you access.
