Are you saying the PC restarts and goes into Safe Mode when you open
Word? And then Restarts again when you close Word?!?!?

Yes,that is the way it was described to me by my friend, and we have
determined it is a conflict with the Norton antivirus 2005,thanks very much
for your quick answer.

It definitely NOT a Norton AntiVirus 2005 problem since I have it working.

Unfortunately the described process should not be able to occur. Since
this is a second hand description, you should verify what is actually
happening. Because some parts of what is happening and what the user is
doing are being left out the true story is not known.

Some versions of Word have basic macro virus protection built in. It can
sometimes conflict with the resident antivirus program's macro virus
detection. Check to see if both programs - Word and antivirus program -
have macro virus detection enabled. Decide which one will be used and
disable the other.

Another thing to try: Close Word. Rename normal.dot. Open Word and a new
normal.dot file will be created. Test to see if this default .dot file
exhibits the same behavior.

If no, then look carefully at the customizations that were added to the
renamed file to see if you can determine what caused the problem behavior.
Add customizations back to the new normal.dot file one step at a time.

Thanks for all the kind responses,we have decided to get rid of Norton
Antivirus (it was just a three months trial) and are getting the AVG (I have
used it for many years myself),problem solved.
Cordially

Fernando
