All Programs command fails

I get no response when I go to Start | All Programs. I cannot connect this
problem with any predisposing event. The command has been working fine for
months. It no longer brings my program icons and labels into view. I have
placed System Tools on my Start menu in order to access maintenance tools
that I use regularly. I am using XP Home on a Dell Dimension 4600 with a
half full, partitioned hard drive which has given me no trouble for months.
System Restore has not helped, in spite of trying three restore points. Any
advice? hebo

Try running the edit on Kelly's site, line 154, "Remove "All Programs"
from Start Menu - Undo" at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Click on the undo portion and see the beginning of the page for
information on running the edit.

I am assuming that you only have one main account set up on your computer. I
also assume that if you have multiple accounts you already checked them for
this problem, and don't need to do this step:

First, make sure that it is only your account which has this problem (Check
if this is the same. To do this, you will need to remember your administrator
password you typed in when you set up the computer. Log off your account and
press CTRL+ALT+DELETE twice when the blue screen shows up with your account
name on it. When it asks for your username, type in Administrator. Type in
the administrator password and press enter. Check if the All Programs menu
works

If the administrator account's All Programs menu works:

Back up everything from your account. This includes anything in your home
directory. This is usually located at "C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*".
Delete your account after everything is backed up and make a new account and
restore your items.
