Lost windows after using dual displays

After using a laptop in the office with desktop expanded to a 2nd display and
then using it without the 2nd display. Applications remember which display
their window(s) were last closed on and reopen their window(s) there, even
when the desktop setting is changed back to 1 display. How can you move the
window back to the primary display when you cannot see it, short of hooking
up to a 2nd display again?

I think there used to be a hot key sequence to lock a window to the mouse in
older windows versions - cannot find it in XP.

"Alt-spacebar" and then "M"
