Slow Clock - Always 8 minutes 55 seconds slow

My taskbar clock runs slow.
So, I downloaded an atomic clock applicaion and from time to time I "ping"
my clock. Everytime I do I note that my clock is slow by 8 mintues, 55
seconds.
So I bought a new battery and installed it. I am still 8:55 slow.
Wha could it be?

More important, have you done this or a similar check after manually setting
the correct time? How long does it take before the correct time shows a
slowdown?

I manually set the clock each morning at startup. After an hour the clock
will be off 8:55. I know it is off that much because when I reset the clock
by using the Atomic Clock applications it tells me it was 8:55 off. But even
when I don't use the Atomic Clock application is is still off 8-9 minutes.

Your machine is set to sync with a local time server computer. That
computer, wherever it is on your network, is a little gamey.
