[Hasan Ahmed]

i cant seem to defragment my hard disk drive. when i try to run the program
the following message appears:

Defragmenter has detected that chkdsk /f is scheduled to run on the volume

Please run chkdsk /f

when i go to run from the start menu or the command prompt and try to run
the command "chkdsk /f", the following message appears

chkdsk can not be run as the volume is in use by another process. would you
like to run chkdsk the next time windows restarts? y/n

the problem persists even if i press y and then restart and come back to
disk defragmenter. can anybody kindly help me out?

Try booting into safe mode and run defrag.

What happens when you tell it what disk to check?
Type into the run box: CHKDSK C: /F

i tried doing that as well without success. please do read Danny Sanders'
reply as that seems to have resolved the problem. thanks for your suggestion.
