I am currently using windows ME and plan to upgrade to XP. However, my
computer has suddenly been hit by Trojans.

If I ignore the Trojans and upgrade to XP what will happen? Will the Trojans
stay and cause havoc or will they be kicked out in the upgrade process?

Cheers

The Trojans will persist through the Upgrade process, in one form or
another.
Upgrade installatons do not purge Trojans, they preserve them.

Back up your data and do a clean install of XP, it's easy enough to upgrade
but will not perform aswell as clean installing, who knows what other
nasties you have on your system
