I'm running XP Pro on an HP Pavilion 752n, and two days ago I shut my machine
off as I normally do. The next morning when I turned the computer on I was
given the error page that gives you the safe mode, safe with networking, safe
with command prompt, last known good configuration, and start windows
normally options. I have tried all the various options, tried to boot from
the XP CD-ROM, hit F10 for systems recovery, and changed everything I can
think of in the setup. But for some reason, I'm always looped back to the
error screen with the above options. I can't enter windows or get a command
prompt to change anything. Can anyone help, or possibly tell me how to exit
the boot process to a DOS prompt so I can go from the CD-ROM? I don't want
to re-partition my hard drive, but I will if necessary. Right now, however,
that's not even an option.
