http service does not work

hi,
can anyone help me with this little mystery?, my admin is limiting the http
login to certain accounts, while the smtp is running at my pc but the http
is not working, so i tried to logon through another account that is allowed
to run http service but ths doe not work so can anybody help ?

or even explain to me why the smtp service works but not http ?

Because your admin is limiting your account from accessing the internet
except for email.

HTTP service is used for browsing the web page. Uses IP port 80 normally.

SMTP is used to send emails. Uses IP port 25. Stands for: Simple Mail
Transport Protocol. Usually has POP3 service also working. POP3 is used to
read emails. POP3 = Point O Presense (???) version 3.

The true reason why HTTP is not working for your is the your "admin" has
turned it off. Only the "admin" truely knows why the HTTP access has been
limited. Mostly likely reason: The company does not want the employees to
"goof-off" by "surfing" the web sites.
