I know there must be a simple answer to this. Every time we switch user
names on XP the computer restarts rather than just switch to a different
user. How do I re-set windows so it doesn't do this everytime someone tries
to get on to their account. Thanks for any help.

Not as simple as one would think. Start here:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, CWShredder and HijackThis:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Note: Update the first two programs, once installed, before running.

Free Online Virus Scan

Good luck and keep us posted!

In control panel, user accounts>change the way users log on/off; check allow
fast user switching.
If that doesn't work, run a virus scan, Adaware, Spybot, MS Antispyware, etc
to clean your machine.

Thanks so much...it was EliteBar adware causing my problem and freeware from
http://www.simplytech.it had a removal tool that took care of it. Amazing
how freeware sometimes does a better job than higher priced software such as
Norton.

You are most welcome. Great news and glad to hear you have it solved. And
yes, freeware is all that is needed, for the most part. :o)
