No sound????

i have no sound from my computer at all....it totally stopped workign for a
while but then i could use microsoft things to play the sounds, except the
basic windows sounds, it said sound card was busy, i re-installed drivers for
sound card, turned off sound card, turned back on, took out, and put back in,
and now today none of the sounds will work at all....any suggestions? bad
sound card?

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: TROUBLESHOOTER , and hit enter.
3. Click on "Sound Troubleshooter".

Check the registry setting mentioned here, it has worked for thousands and
